Made it to Adelaide, South Australia after spending the night in Hay (thought of you Nessa! HAY HAY!!!). It was a beautiful drive through the Barossa wine region, where we stopped at St Hallett Vineyard and sampled a few reds, including a delicious Blackwell Shiraz (we bought it in your honor Wes and Clare). The scenery along the drive was picturesque so say the least! We spent the night in Adelaide CBD and while we had high hopes for a fun night out, we were pretty tired and hit the "hay" early. Woke up to a beautiful day and went for a run through the city's Botanic Garden. We're off to visit some more vineyards in McLaren Vale Wine Region just south of the city and will be camping down on the Fleurieu Penninsula tonight. After a good night's rest, we are ready to rock!Amazing_drive_.jpgLukin_at_S..yard_SA.jpgKT_at_Jaco..yard_SA.jpgSt__Hallett_vineyard.jpg

Taking the Long Way Home

Bye Gerringong!

Today we said goodbye to our beloved first home together on Fern Street, and our best Australian mates & neighbors who have become like family. We thank each and every one of you who took the time out of your already busy schedules to reach out to us "Yanks" and show us your beautiful South Coast town. The past 2.5 years have gone so quickly and we have fallen in love with each and every nook and cranny of Gerringong. But don't get too sad - we'll be back some day!!!

On a lighter note, we're off on an amazing 9 week adventure through the Australian Outback, Indonesia and the Eastern Coast of Australia, from the Great Barrier Reef back down to the Gong. First stop - South Australia! While we attempted to leave early this morning and drive to Adelaide in one long 16 hour push (we are road warriors!), a flat battery and some last minute errands this morning delayed our departure. Thanks to Paul (P Diddy) for the jump and Nick and Lainey Brown for some fresh new jams...we will make it as far as we can tonight and pitch camp.

We hope you enjoy our travel blog taking the LONG way home.
